MMO Coated Anodes manufacturing involves coating of substrate like titanium with precious metal oxides like iridium, ruthenium and such exotic metal oxides. The coating is done in a totally inert environment to avoid any contamination. Titanium with its unique properties like high resistance to corrosion and chemical contamination is the most preferred substrate material.

Platinum is a noble metal having excellent catalyst properties. Platinum is conductive, chemically stable and highly resistant to oxidation and corrosion. Because of its high conductivity, high corrosion resistance, catalytic nature and low consumption rate, Platinum is an excellent anode material.

However because of its high cost, platinum is not used directly as a substrate. Instead it is applied on a substrate of corrosion resistant materials like Titanium, Nobium, Tantalum etc. Platinum is electroplated on these substrates. Thus the exotic properties of platinum are exploited at a lower cost through Platinum Plated electrodes/anodes.
